Planning Commission

1.1        The Planning Commission is an eleven (11) member advisory board appointed by the Mayor.  The Planning Commission helps to guide, direct and control the development of the City in accordance with the Development (zoning) Code.  The Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to City Council on Special Use Permits, preliminary and final subdivision plats, map amendments (rezoning) and text amendments.  It also helps oversee the preparation and implementation of the City's Comprehensive Plan, which establishes long range physical development goals.

The Planning Commission meets on the second Tuesday of the month, unless there is no business to conduct.  Matters to be presented to the Planning Commission should be submitted at least one month in advance of the meeting to the Department of Land Use and Development.
